Origin Talinga Maintenance Campaign
The Talinga Gas Facility consists of 12 Waukesha Gas Engines coupled to Ariel Screw Compressors, that process first stage compression of raw coal seam gas from the surrounding gathering field network. With the commissioning of the APLNG network, Talinga has become an integral plant for the delivery of gas to the Gladstone LNG facility. To prepare for the integration into the APLNG network, Origin Energy engaged Valmec to execute zero hour rebuilds of 11 of the engine and rotary screw compressor packages.
For Origin Energy to meet their daily gas nominations, all works had to be conducted in staged shutdowns with a strong focus on working safely within a live gas plant. Alignment of the shut-down works with other site maintenance was critical to ensure minimal impact to both parties. The service condition of each of the units was not fully known until disassembly, which in many cases required the rapid procurement of extra parts to ensure no impact to the schedule.
Valmec’s local workshop and stores in Dalby is fully equipped for OEM and package rebuild works. A team of experienced technicians were utilised to conduct multiple rebuilds in parallel, ensuring minimal turn-around time to hand over to the Valmec installation and commissioning crew. With the experience of our Field Commissioning Technicians, we were able to successfully bring each unit back online without disruption to site operations or production.
