Tropicana Gold Mine - Consumer Pipeline Metering and Delivery Station
Great Victoria Desert, Kalgoorlie Region, WA
Valmec was selected by APA to construct the gas metering filtration and pressure reduction facility at the delivery station for Anglo Ashanti at the Tropicana gold mine located 330 kilometres north east of Kalgoorlie. Additionally, the consumer line from the new facility was installed to service the mine site power station.
The project was executed as a fast-tracked schedule in order to meet requirements of the client. Other challenges included the remote location of the facility, the harsh environmental conditions and resource constraints due to accommodation shortages caused by routine shutdowns coinciding with the construction works.
Valmec provided the flexibility of working alongside APA and Anglo Ashanti for the safe and efficient construction and pre-commissioning required for the project. A quality product was delivered, including a sophisticated instrumentation package for remote monitoring of the facility. All required works were able to be completed within the fast-tracked Client schedule, with minimal budget impacts. The project was executed with no lost time injuries and special consideration was given to reduce the environmental impact of the works.
