AGL Camden North - Waukesha 12VAT27GL Engine Overhaul
Camden, New South Wales
Background
AGL’s Upstream Camden Gas Plant produces natural gas for the Sydney market. Camden currently contains a separation system, dehydration, odorant injection and three compressors. The main gas fired compressor CM-01 suffered a significant engine failure in November 2013 with Investigations subsequently finding that substantial repairs were required.
Client
AGL Energy Limited
Challenges
Valmec managed all aspects of the scope of work including all HSEQ components, engaging heavy lift for removal and installation of the engine, heavy transport for delivery to and from our rebuild facility and all aspects of the engine overhaul. Conscious of environmental risks due to location and sensitivity of the area, transport can only occur between very limited hours of the day. This limitation coupled with restrictions on the movement of a crane of the size required meant precision was needed to co-ordinate all activities. Both the removal and installation events were completed without incident.
Advantages
Demonstrating that we have the resources to manage the challenging logistics and the ability to deliver the technical requirements within the time required. This led to AGL selecting Valmec, a decision that was vindicated by the ability to deliver the entire project at around $250,000 under budget and 6 weeks ahead of schedule.
