Bassendean Train Station

The State Government committed $60 million to add a further 4,500 parking bays at various train stations in the Perth metropolitan area; one of which was Bassendean Train Station. Valmec was chosen by the Perth Transport Authority as the scope of works involved technical disciplines in a brownfields location with multiple complex interface issues. Works included earthworks, underground power, communications & CCTV, critical gas pipeline protection and modification, road and parking construction, kerbing and asphalt.
Public Transport Authority
The project team faced multiple issues with interfacing to existing infrastructure from high pressure gas pipelines which were owned by multiple authorities. This required coordination with multiple stakeholders for a critical full shutdown of the train line and associated systems during a 4 hour window.
The site team were chosen to include individuals that had both the depth of experience to deal with the varied and complex tasks and the attitude to deal with the variety of interactions.
